The Ayar Thukha San story

Ayar Thukha is a family business with its roots established by my father, Mr. Hla Win. Today, my elder brother, Mr. Soe Lwin, and I, Mr. Kyaw Htet, oversee the operations. We are also fortunate to have Mr. Hlaing Kyi as our co-founder and business partner.

The name "Ayar" pays homage to the Ayeyarwady River, the lifeline of our nation, and the incredibly fertile Ayeyarwady delta region. "Thukha San" translates to "all blessings."

Our journey began in 1980 when my father initiated the business in our hometown of Zalum, located in the Ayeyarwady region. He was a seasoned trader and farmer, dealing primarily in rice and beans, and also sourcing produce from local farmers. My elder brother played an active role in assisting him during those early days.

As the business expanded, we evolved our approach by advising local farmers on cultivating high-value crops. We not only purchased their produce directly but also provided training to enhance the quality of their output. This commitment allowed us to support their livelihoods effectively.

In 2006, I relocated to Yangon, where I had the privilege of meeting our esteemed business partner, Mr. Hlaing Kyi. It was during this time that we laid the foundation for a company focused on exporting pulses and beans from Myanmar, and this vision materialized in 2011.

Our initial exports encompassed a diverse range of products, including black matpe, green mung beans, rice, and dried yellow corn. These commodities found their way to markets in the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and India. In the same year, we formalized our status as an officially registered export company.

My father remains my most cherished mentor and a source of profound inspiration. He is an exceptional farmer, trader, and entrepreneur, renowned for his deep understanding of farmers' needs and his unwavering support to ensure they can provide for their families. My brother and I have imbibed invaluable lessons from his approach. Despite being 77 years old, he continues to be passionately engaged in his work.

Over the past decade, Ayar Thukha has actively participated in trade shows and established connections with our ASEAN partners. We take immense pride in our contributions, having supplied beans and rice to the World Food Program, furthering our commitment to making a positive impact.
